What started with one rainy day in Stockport has turned into something incredible…
After seeing people without homes and saying it wasn’t fair that “some people don’t have a nice warm home to live in,” young Reece decided to do something about it.
Throughout October, Reece (joined by his family) ran 2km every single day to raise vital funds. Come rain or shine, he laced up his trainers, got out there, and kept going with a smile on his face!
Last week, Reece crossed his final finish line right here at The Wellspring, where our team, service users and supporters were waiting with homemade signs, cheers, and plenty of applause to celebrate his amazing achievement.

Thanks to his determination and kindness, Reece raised an incredible £1,703 to support people experiencing homelessness in Stockport and these funds will make a huge difference.
Reece’s mum shared how proud they are of what he’s achieved, saying:
“It was so wonderful hearing all the cheers as we came towards the finish line, I still get a lump in my throat thinking about it! The tour of The Wellspring was fantastic too; what you all do is incredible and we’re just so pleased we could help with the money raised.”
Reece’s compassion and determination have inspired our entire team, proving that anyone, no matter their age, can make a real difference.
From everyone at The Wellspring… thank you, Reece! If young Reece has inspired you and you would like to set up your own fundraising event, please head to our fundraising page.
