When Sam first came to The Wellspring, he was sleeping in a tent, determined to stay clean from drugs, even if it meant facing the harsh reality of rough sleeping.
Accommodation had been an option, but staying in the wrong environment wasn’t an option for him. Isolation became his norm.
Through time, trust, and sheer perseverance, he started volunteering, giving his days structure, purpose, and, most importantly, a safe space with people who truly supported him. It wasn’t an easy road, but he kept showing up, engaging, and fighting for the right help.
After a long wait and an incredible amount of determination, the right services finally aligned, and his detox was approved. Last week, we had the privilege of standing beside him as he stepped onto the train, heading toward the next stage of his journey – rehab. This is what support looks like. This is what resilience looks like. And this is why we do what we do.
