Who do we support?
There is no ‘typical’ service user within The Wellspring. Anyone, from any background can find themselves without a home or be at risk of losing their home. We provide support for anyone over the age of 18 in the borough of Stockport.

The most important thing that we want our service users to understand is that we will help without judgement or prejudice. The modern world of support resources can be incredibly difficult to navigate, and we often see how people can be forgotten or removed from being able to access the help that they need.
We commit to helping find the support, advice, and resources to make positive changes for every person as soon as we are engaged. Individuals are given a one-to-one assessment through a process of listening and a plan is created together to improve their circumstances with goals for the short and long term.
Our relationships with other support services means that we can refer people to them with confidence and empathy.

What do we stand for?
Housing security
Homelessness isn’t just about lacking shelter, it’s a complex issue linked to various social challenges. We provide essential support in accessing and navigating social housing and securing stable living conditions. Our goal is to break the cycle of homelessness and ensure everyone in Stockport has a secure place to call home.
Holistic health and wellbeing
Good physical and mental health are vital to achieving stability and independence. Our on-site medical team offer check-ups, health consultations, and referrals to specialist care, meeting both immediate and long-term health needs and contributing to a healthier community.
Dignity and respect for all
Every person deserves to be treated with kindness and empathy. We provide free meals, clean clothing, and hygiene facilities to preserve the dignity of our service users. Our commitment to respect ensures that everyone who comes through our doors feels valued and supported.
Comprehensive support
Homelessness is linked to challenges like abuse, addiction, debt, unemployment, and mental health. We connect individuals to specialist support and empower them with skills and guidance to build lasting independence.
Community and collaboration
We work closely with local organisations to create a supportive network that addresses the needs of our users. Adopting a multi-agency approach, we can make a meaningful impact and foster a more inclusive, caring community.
Advocacy and awareness
We advocate for the rights of people without homes and work to increase public awareness about the realities of homelessness. Through education and advocacy, we aim to inspire action and drive systemic change.
