Public Awareness homelessness
A lot of our public awareness comes from the fundraising we do. The Wellspring supports Homeless people in a number of ways including providing referrals to accommodation. Staff at The Wellspring would like to raise public awareness of homelessness and the issues that effect homeless people. Many people put themselves at risk by sleeping and living in derelict unsuitable accommodation. Others brave the elements and sleep rough on the streets.

Many people believe that you need an address to claim benefits. This is not the case, homeless people can claim income support and The Wellspring will continue to support people to apply for it. Back to top

Donations of warm clothing
The Wellspring is always in need of warm clothing that we can give to our members. Although not all of our members are homeless, we always make sure that people who are homeless get the warmest clothing from us. If you would like to donate clothing to The Wellspring things that we are most in need of are : Jeans, Trainers, Jumpers, Fleece's, Waterproof clothing, Underwear and socks, flasks, sleeping bags and blankets.

Unfortunately we are mostly not able to get out and pick up donations of clothing. Most people donating clothing bring it to The Wellspring. Back to top

We also support our members to make applications with all the housing providers in the area, staff at The Wellspring regularly support people to complete forms and give advice on gaining secured tenancies. We can also advocate for our members at official meetings with housing providers. Over the last few years the staff at The Wellspring have supported over 300 people to gain either a supported housing placement or there own tenancy. Back to top
