The New Wellspring Building is open and up and running, however the charity still has a significant funds gap, please make a donation today.

The New Wellspring Building.

For many years The Wellspring has been fundraising to buy a new building. The current Wellspring building has been compulsory purchased by Stockport council & the current site will be developed to provide housing, shops & offices.

Building work on The New Wellspring Building has now started. The Wellspring Charity has a funding gap of around 80 thousand pounds in order to make the dream of the only purpose built resource centre in the north of England a reality.

The Wellspring will be relocated to Harvey St in Stockport which is right next to Robinson’s Brewery in the town centre.

The new building is in a conservation area so will have to comply with conservation standards, it will be of red brick construction and will be more than twice the size of the old Wellspring building. The extra space will allow The Wellspring to expand the current services dramatically. The new building will have a dedicated training suite, lots more office space which will accommodate additional paid members of staff.

The building will be bright with lots of natural light, it will be a welcoming environment which is in line with the communities and local governments "Places of change" ethos.

What is a place of change ?

Places of change is a ethos and way of working that many Homeless organisations have taken on board up and down the country. Bright welcoming environments, Engaging services, Great opportunities, that’s a place of change. The Wellspring will be providing many more services than we currently provide to Homeless and Disadvantaged people, we will be starting several Social enterprise services which we hope will provide Homeless and disadvantaged people with a vocation.

The new building will also have a outside training area where we will be able to run training courses such as Brick work, wood work, decorating skills, the outside training area will also give us the scope to provide more bespoke training course's in the future.

The new building will have 2 dedicated surgery spaces, one for our resident PCT nurse who addresses the health needs of people who are Homeless. We will have an additional surgery where we hope to provide GP & dental services.

The kitchen in the new building will be a complete commercial kitchen, fitted with all mod cons ! We will also be running cookery courses in the new building.

The staff area will be open and welcoming, all glass screens and security measures will be removed, by removing these physical barriers we hope that this will encourage a greater amount of respect and understanding from our client group and a better way of working. This has already happened in homeless projects up and down the country, the number of incidents that these projects have encountered have not just dramatically fallen they have been completely non existent.
